FEBRUARY 2010 Challenge ~ Name That Photo ~
This might be fun...
Here's an idea for a February Challenge. The challenge won't be in the photo itself, but in the title and comments!!! Your photo will be posted without a TITLE and the comments will be the TITLE SUGGESTIONS! You don't have to leave a comment on how much you like the photo or don't like it, just give the photo a creative title! From the comments, choose your favorite title suggestion and later use it for your title! Anybody game?

Hmm. The idea sounds intriguing, but not very challenging photographically. Basically it would allow you to just shoot anything that catches your eye and the real challenge would then be in naming other peoples' photos.

Might be worth a separate topic for a 'Name that Shot' sort of thing.

What about a challenge on the topic 'Action' for February. Could be sport, traffic, animals, kids etc. but all in action in some way. Would exercise the timing, focus and anticipation facilities as well as the imaginative and artistic.

Its early enough that we don't need to decide yet, so what do people think?

Yes, I think Bernard is completely right.
I liked the idea of getting nice titles for my PaD (see my first entry here), but there I post whatever happens in my daily life and feel quite free about the subject...maybe even sometimes about the quality....
But that is not the meaning of a challenge, I suppose.
"Action" could be a challenging subject for me, I never did anything like that and it would be great to learn by doing and watching images...

I think I would like action too. I have been wanting to develope better technique for capturing movement. This will force me to practice.

The Naming Others Photos sounds like a lot of fun and could be a great conversation starter, but I think we are missing the meaning of photographic challenge. And, I try to be critical when looking at other's photos and prefer to comment honestly and I read other's comments to learn.

Sounds like a novel approach, Bill and would be worth a try. However, for me, the image is paramount and commenting is entirely incidental and based solely on the image presented. Therefore the central theme must revolve around the context of a suitable photographic topic, and the most appropriate one will be that which inspires the most folks to participate. So far, "Action" seems to catching on!!
