My 31st. http://www.pbase.com/image/121530086

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to look and for the positive encouragement and support I've had during this challenge.
I'm not sure whether I'll join in the February challenge, I think my eyes need a rest!

Von.

Last one for the challenge, my words it has been a mammoth one this time. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the interesting monochrome shots. I will be having a rest in February, action just isn't my thing. I will keep up with everyone doing the challenge though. It's been fun all the way this January.

My 31th A symbolic end to the monochrome month

I wish to thank everybody who participated in this monochrome, but not monotone month.
I had some hesitations first, but I started to like it. Participating thought me a lot new photographic things.

I would like to thank everyone for all of your generous comments throughout this month. I, too, have been totally blown away by everyone's contributions this month. Thank you Cindi for suggesting the topic. This challenge, by far, has had the most participation of any that I have seen in my few years on PBase.

I must admit that I had not originally intended this series for this month's challenge, but was inspired to continue through your kind words. I would encourage anyone who has the chance to visit the low country of South Carolina to make a day of Brookgreen Gardens. It is a truly inspirational place. You can visit them on-line at http://www.brookgreen.org.

So I leave you with my final image for the month. This is the Brookgreen Gardens' signature piece, sculpted by founder and benefactor Anna Hyatt Huntington. Fighting Stallions graces the entrance to Brookgreen.

I want to express my thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on my images this month...your comments and encouragement were appreciated more than you know.

This month I decided to keep with a theme of outdoor images of Southern Vancouver Island, I wanted to see if I could overcome the often poor outdoor shooting conditions and still get an acceptable image. I also wanted to get more experience with black and white photography. I tried out a few different approaches during the month and learned tons just from viewing and seeing the comments on everyone elses image's....for me, this has been a valuable learning experience and lots of fun! Thanks to all of you. - Racine

I put together a gallery of monochrome images that did not make the cut for my PAD.
You can see them here:

A fun challenge, but I am anxious to use color again...

31st January...

Juanli & I are off to Nepal on the 15th for a month, but I will start off the Feb challenge anyway...

I was starting to get gear ready to pack and came across my Really Right Stuff Pano Head, that will be coming to the Himalaya with us. It struck me how much the bubble looked liek an old antique Pocket watch..

Time really does Stand Still
