Desire or commitment?

Without a desire to shoot, how to complete my PAD with high quality?

It is an interesting question you pose here -- a question which had
me walk into our guest bedroom here at home and look at some of
my more favorite images hanging on the wall. There are nine of them.

This one came from "inspiration", from a day when the waters seemed
to me too rough to go out on the boat and I wanted to express what
I was seeing and feeling:



But these other eight images...

















... well, these other eight were made on days when I had no clue
whatsoever as to what I might find when I headed out with my camera.

So if that is anything to go by, then I would venture to guess that the
"muse of inspiration", if it ever appears at all, most often appears while
we are already out there shooting.

What an interesting question.

I just completed my first week today, and have gone through a couple bouts of "Don't wanna", though to be fair I have been sick for nearly the whole time (from standing outside too long on a damp night taking pictures of the moon and sky, no less!). Some days it has been a joy.

I am actually starting to look at things differently now. I want to take good pictures, but with this gallery I am also trying to insert a little bit of "on this day it was like this" or "I did this". That's not always the technically best picture and I'm exploring how it feels to relax and just shoot something mundane. It's kind of nice.

So far I would say that it is a combination of desire and commitment. I'm still getting the hang of 'relaxing' and getting into the groove. If I can manage that, desire will make commitment irrelevant.
