There is a recognized "minimalism" movement in art - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimalism - and certainly some of the photographs posted so far would fit in with that definition. A minimalist artwork is more likely to emphasize the shapes, patterns, textures and colors (and their interaction) in the image than on the "subject".

I thought I might try to go by the Wiki definition of minimalism . . . . . and this isn't it
But it is a "minimal" part of a teacup
