Hi Im a newbie to photoshop,
Can anyone help? I have an intricate black image on a white background, does anyone know if there is a process to select all the black areas in one go and cut it as a layer to transfer to another image without magic wanding each section of the black?
thanks

You can magic-wand one black area and then choose Select
and choose Similar to catch the other black areas.

(I can't remember what the Select->color range does
but there's a similar use.)

Select->color range will do the trick you may have to use the slider to get a better selection

another point to consider, it may be easier to select the white background and then invert the selection
