Hi,

I am a digital bluff, so my film experience is still limited. I still shoot film especially when shooting portraits or landscapes for my school publication or clients to use. I shoot consumer type regular film like Fujifilm Superia series and Kodak GA Gold. I have read however that Kodak Portra NC series will give me better results. Is this true? The price seems like it is ringing a bell.

Thanks,

Hugh

Hi,
Portra NC works very well with skin tones, Portra VC works very well with Landscape. I shoot mostly Landscape and macro, Very much like the colors produced by Portra VC. Scans well also. Kodak Gold 100 is a winner also.

Another great choice is the Fuji Reala 100 (great saturation, excellent skin tone, vivid color), Fujicolor Pro 160C, or Pro 160S.

Reala is very cheap and it defefinitely worth it. 160C and 160S are both excellent film for portrait, they are not as vivid as Reala though, but advantage is neutral and smooth skin tone.
