how to increase the image size of scanned negatives??

hello recently i tried scanning my b&w negatives but the file size seemed too small. what should i go to increase the image size without it being too pixalated?

Scan at a higher ppi (dpi) ..

35mm film is 24x36mm which is (about) 1" x 1.4"

So for 800 wide you need 800 ppi (portrait) or 600 ppi (landscape)

For 300 ppi (printing resolution) on an 8x10 you need 2400 dpi (portrait)

For scanning dpi is the same as ppi. In printing they can be variable so I prefer the term ppi.
